Launched in July ‘07 without an intro nor a ISBN (and in a slightly different, minimalistic A5-landscape format…)
Jason Andrews conjures a tall-tale concerning Hunter S Thompson, bikers and vampires in Fear and Loathing in Bat Country: Hunter S Thompson vs Dracula (13,900 words) – I’d like to think Mr Thompson would’ve approved….
Meanwhile, Liam Davies takes us on a journey into the Afterlife via Adventures in Bed-Sit (18,000 words), and how far one would go in pursuit of true love…
Finally, John Travis gives us a decidely 1960s Northern English tale of strange things in Monster Mash (19,600 words) – this ain’t no Heartbeat.
Reviews
“So three new stories, all of which have their good point, though the writers laurels defiantly have to go to Liam Davies. 7/10″ Charles Packer, Sci-Fi-Online.
“There’s a total of over fifty thousand words of fiction… but, to their credit, none of the stories feels all that long… This is a risky format for an anthology. If one of the three stories fails, then the collection’s liable to fall flat. Of course, that hasn’t happened here. My main gripe is the format: I’m not a fan of reading books that are laid out in a landscape format. But that’s just me. I like my adventures to be in the pages, not in the design, and I have no complaints in that department.” Jim Steel, Whispers of Wickedness
