So, you want to write a story?

PLEASE NOTE: With regret, and despite being within a current reading period, Triquorum is henceforth closed until next September. All stories received up until now will be read and evaluated, but please no new submissions until 1st September 2009.

Story Length
Novelettes between 8-20k words, though my preferred is 12-18k.

Genre
Stories should be horror, dark fantasy or sf but I am also partial to a spot of crime fiction, and comic fantasy. No heroic fantasy, though – Orc’s and men in loinclothes don’t feature in my reading habits. Triquorum, though, is particulary suited to novelettes that merge genres, and could be difficult to place elsewhere.

Payment
£35 for First UK Serial Rights, and each author shall receive three copies of the issue their story appears.

If you’re unsure of the fiction I like, then by all means purchase an issue to acquaint yourself with our material. Though this isn’t a pre-requisite for acceptance. But, it helps. ;-)

How to Submit
Due to the length of the average submitted tale, it quickly dawned on me that not only was it costing a fortune in printing each and every story out, but that it was taking me a long time… so, I’ve changed the policy slightly:

If you have access to e-mail, then send the first 4,000 (or two chapters, whichever is more) words to submissions at triquorum dot com as an attachment in either RTF or MS Word format. If I like what I read, then I will be in touch and ask you to snail-mail the complete manuscript. I understand that this could annoy a few people – but seriously, you try printing out the submissions I received last year, when the average tale was 40-50 pages long…

Alternatively, you could snail mail the entire mss to: Triquorum, c/o Pendragon Press, Po Box 12, Maesteg, Mid Glamorgan, South Wales, CF34 0XG, UK.

All submissions should be in standard mss format – double-spaced, single-sided – and unless you enclose an SSAE then I shall consider them disposable.

Simultaneous submissions are fine – if I don’t accept it, then it’s my tough-luck but please notify me if this is the case. Also, only one submission at a time – no multi-subs.

Good luck!

  1. I am so pleased to hear you are receiving manuscripts. I write horror/Sci Fi for young adults as they like to be called these days and with great deliberation I shall post, snail mail, we are only around the corner. Look forward to hearing any comments or suggestions you can make. Yours Ann
